Racist Trump

When Donald Trump refers to the mainstream media as fake news, in one area he has a point. The broadcast and print media acted as though they were shocked by Trump’s reluctance to condemn the white supremacist on the day of the violent March in Charlottesville, Virginia. To be shocked seems to suggest the media has been under a rock for the past 50 years. That same media tells me Trump’s approval rating is over 40%. I believe that 35% of that 40% are racists and that’s why they support him. This percentage seems to suggest the same racial division that separated America during slavery, separates America today. There are over 325 million people in America, so according to what I’ve seen and read 130,000,000 of them are okay with racism.

Trump lies to this 40% three to five times a day, every day and yet they believe and will defend each of those lies. If someone lied to me every day for two years I’d have a hard time believing anything they had to say. A large percentage of that 40% are Evangelical Christians. Some of these Evangelicals have said, “God sent Trump.” What does that say about the God they pray too? According to these Evangelicals, God sent Jesus to save mankind, and then he sent Trump to save America. Why would God choose a person who has more in common with Satan than he does with Jesus? The only reason I could see God sending Trump would be to expose the frauds who are stealing money in the name of the Lord.

Trump has told four Congresswomen of color to go back to the countries where they belong. The fact that they are members of Congress means they are already in the countries where they belong. When the GOP members of congress were asked about this racist statement from Trump, they all defended him and claimed he’s not racist. That’s because they are racist too.

One of Donald Trump’s first experiences, in the real estate business, was when a discrimination lawsuit was filed against him and his father for refusing to rent property to people of color. The Justice Department’s 1973 lawsuit against Trump Management Company focused on 39 properties in New York City. The government alleged that employees were directed to tell African American lease applicants that there were no open apartments. Company policy, according to an employee quoted in court documents, was to rent only to “Jews and executives.” Rather than go to court and possibly lose the case, they settled.

The so-called Central Park Five were a group of black and Latino teens who were wrongly accused of raping a white woman in Central Park on April 19, 1989. Donald Trump took out full-page ads in all four major New York newspapers to argue that perpetrators of crimes such as this one “should be forced to suffer” and “be executed.” In two trials, in August and December 1990, the youths were convicted of violent offenses including assault, robbery, rape, sodomy, and attempted murder; their sentences ranged from five to 15 years in prison. In 2002, after the discovery of exonerating DNA evidence and the confession by another individual to the crime, the convictions of the Central Park Five were vacated. When it was proven that these five young black men were innocent Trump had nothing to say.

When Barack Obama ran for president Trump supported and pushed the birther lie. Trump said, on more than one occasion, that Barack Obama was not born in the United States. In other words, he had information the Secret Service didn’t have. There’s no way a person can trick the Secret Service and the United States Congress into believing they were born in the United States so they could run for the president of the United States. Trump pushed this birther lie for eight years. Everyone knows Trump’s real issue wasn’t that Barack Obama wasn’t born in America; the real issue was that Obama was born black.

When Trump announced he was running for President, in his first campaign speech he accused Mexicans, who come in this country, of being rapists, murderers, and drug dealers. During his presidential campaign, all the white supremacist groups supported his candidacy and when he was asked to condemn those groups he wouldn’t do it. He waited until the primaries in the Confederate states were over before giving a weak condemnation.

When a federal judge ruled against Trump’s fraudulent Trump University for stealing money from its students, Trump said the judge ruled against him because he is Mexican and was retaliating against his wall.

Trump also called a Miss America contestant from Latin America a domestic. As president, two of Trump’s senior advisors are leaders of the Alt-Right community and the Alt-Right community is simply white supremacist in suits.

Trump has also campaigned for all the racist candidates in the 2018 mid-term elections. He even held two campaign rallies in Mississippi for the candidate running for the states senate seat. During one of these rallies, Trump referred to this candidate as the only good choice for the state. She was running against a black man. This GOP candidate was quoted as saying if there was a public hanging she would sit in the front row. Trump also called Neo-Nazis and White Supremacist groups “fine people.”

Trump has been a racist since his last visit from the tooth fairy. I am truly sick and tired of hearing the media constantly tell their viewers how surprised and amazed they are at Donald Trump when he does or says something racist. Why are they amazed or surprised? Donald Trump has never given any indication in any way shape or form that he is not a racist or a white supremacist. However, the news media continuously tell us how shocked they are. America showed its racism during the Obama years but during the Trump years they flaunt it.

I have often said racism is the second most powerful force in America.

After making his “lynching” comment there is a lot of talk about Trump being responsible for the uptick in racism and the increased activity of the white supremacy movement in America. As a black man, I can plainly see that racism is and always has been alive and well in America. However, some people and some members of the media are saying Trump is responsible for racism America is experiencing today. This is nothing but a smokescreen.

Trump had nothing to do with the racism the Native Americans were subjected to by the English who settled in Jamestown, Virginia. Trump did not Capt. any of the slave ships that brought Africans to America. Trump was not there when the Mexicans and the Spaniards were victims of racism in America’s Western frontier. Trump did not sign the Indian Removal Act. Trump did not leave his plantation to command any of the troops during the Civil War. Trump did not break any of the treaties America signed with the Native Americans. Trump did not write any of the Jim Crow laws and it was not Trump who told my aunt and me to sit in the back of the bus in Florence, South Carolina.

What I’m seeing on the news about Trump being responsible for today’s racism is actually fake news. America became a racist nation the moment the first European set foot on its soil. There’s no doubt that Trump is a racist but he is not responsible for racism in America, America is responsible. I look forward to the day when the media stops trying to separate racism from white supremacy. In my opinion, if you are white and racist you are a white supremacist; Period. The Klan, the Neo-Nazi and all the other white racist groups are white supremacists and so is Donald Trump.

Trump didn’t hang any of my ancestors and he didn’t play a part in the genocide of Native Americans. Trump being blamed for racism is simply America looking for a scapegoat instead of trying to solve its problem. Trump is only a symptom, not the problem. It’s like sneezing which is only a symptom when you have a cold. When you eliminate the cold it will eliminate sneezing. Until then racism in America is here to stay. In my heart, I truly believe Atlanta will have a William Tecumseh Sherman Day parade before racism is a thing of the past in America.
